Free Days Until Calculator

Count how many days are left until a future date, such as a holiday, deadline, birthday, or event.

Pick a date to start the countdown.

Quick answer

A days-until calculator counts the number of whole calendar days from today to a future date you choose. For example, from 5 June 2026 to 25 December 2026 is 203 days. It also shows the count in weeks.

Formula & method

The tool takes today’s date and your target date and counts the whole calendar days between them, including leap days. If the target is in the past, it tells you how many days have already passed instead.

Examples

Example 1: Until Christmas
Input
today 2026-06-05, target 2026-12-25
Result
203 days (≈ 29 weeks)
Why
Counting the calendar days from June 5 to December 25.
Example 2: Until a deadline
Input
today 2026-06-05, target 2026-06-30
Result
25 days
Why
June 30 minus June 5 is 25 days.
Example 3: A past date
Input
today 2026-06-05, target 2026-01-01
Result
Why
When the target is earlier than today, the tool counts days passed.

When to use this tool

  • Counting down to a holiday, birthday, wedding, or trip.
  • Tracking days left until a deadline or due date.
  • Planning around an upcoming event.

Common mistakes

  • Counting both today and the target day. The result is the gap between them.
  • Forgetting time zones for a very tight, same-day countdown.
  • Entering an ambiguous date format; use the date picker to avoid day/month confusion.

Frequently asked questions

How many days until a date?

Pick the target date and the tool counts the whole calendar days from today to that date, and also shows the number of weeks.

What if the date has already passed?

The tool tells you how many days ago it was, instead of a countdown.

Does it count today?

No. It counts the gap, so a date tomorrow shows as 1 day.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. It uses real calendar dates, so any leap day in the range is included.
